Biography

Hungarian percussionist Daniel Bolgar is the first marimbist in Hungary having obtained his Masters diploma from the Royal College of Music in London.
Daniel is fortunate enough to have studied percussion and drums in New Jersey (USA), Budapest (Hungary), Vienna, Linz (Austria), and Antwerp (Belgium) in addition to London (UK).
During this time he had the opportunity to take part in many festivals and competitions (1st Prize, Weiner Conservatory Competition, Hungary) throughout Europe and perform in several recitals/concerts, workshops, and masterclasses as soloist, chamber musician, and teacher. Daniel also has a teaching Masters degree with highest honours from the Liszt Ferenc Music Academy Budapest.

Daniel is especially proud to have performed solo marimba at the National Gallery, Cadogan Hall, and the Elgar Room of the Royal Albert Hall.
Although Daniel’s main focus is Western
classical music, he has also tried himself in many other genres, playing percussion and drums in rock/pop, world music formations.
In 2006 he reached the Heineken talent contest final and played drums on the Sziget Festival Blues Stage with a rock band (the Dead Guys).

Besides music, Daniel also studied political science and communication. These days Daniel is playing both solo and chamber music at the top concert venues of Budapest.
He is also composing music and teaching percussion.
